Terra-cotta is, both in its structural and decorative form, unlimited in its ability to be formed to almost any shape, color or texture that the mind can conceive. Terra-cotta can be an economical alternative to stone and beings a unique medium, many effects can be obtained that cannot be achieved with stone or other building materials.
Terra-cotta is unaffected by corrosives. It is fireproof, waterproof, strong and will not change form. It is color fast and maintenance free. Many of the buildings built in the last century were masterpieces of terra-cotta design and construction. They stand as a testament to the artistic beauty, creativity of design and the flexibility and longevity of the material.
APPLICATION AND DESIGN
Superior Clay offers technical assistance in glaze development and shop drawings during the design phase of the project as well as the installation phase to enable the Architect and Builder to develop successful design and installation.
We can produce ceramic products for commercial and residential applications in any quantities. We are equipped to analyze, develop and test glazes and clay bodies, matching or improving upon existing terra-cotta. We can design and produce original terra-cotta pieces and replicate terra-cotta in both limited and mass production quantities. We employ forming methods of extrusion as well as hand molding to achieve custom shapes to fit all Architectural needs.
